Giant
The Giant Group are the world’s largest bicycle manufacturer, the company was founded in Taiwan in 1972 by King Liu and they now operate across a global network with over 12,000 retail partners. With a strong commitment to inspiring adventure in riders of all abilities they have a reputation for innovation and high-quality products, offering a wide range of road, mountain and e-bikes alongside a variety of cycling apparel.
Dextra were given the opportunity to put forward a proposal for one of their stores in London, our brief was to deliver an energy efficient lighting system that reflected the brands “Ride Unleashed” philosophy where it aims to push the boundaries, expand the experience and respect the planet. One of the key requirements was for an LED source with a high colour rendering to help showcase the eclectic variety of colours and paint finishes on the bicycle frames. They were also looking for good uniformity across the main sales floor area with some feature lights to accentuate the display stands.
Working from some initial conceptual sketches and in close partnership with Whiteroom Brand Design, we created some draft designs using our suspended Runway system alongside some track spots and pendants. Following a detailed review the proposals were subsequently approved by Giant and the finished result was well received when the store opened to the public. We have since supplied our LED lighting to a large number of refit and new stores throughout the UK and we continue to work with Giant on projects across their estate.
