PD Ports
PD Ports is one of the UK’s major port groups and logistics providers, connecting cargo with global markets in and out of the UK. Operating across 11 locations nationwide including Teesport and Hartlepool in the north, a cluster of sites on and around the River Humber, and Felixstowe, Thames and the Isle of Wight in the south. Providing customers with strong supply chain solutions such as shipping services, freight forwarding, warehousing, rail, and road haulage. Serving as a statutory harbour authority for the River Tees, with ambitions to develop the Teesport Offshore Gateway into a major hub for the offshore wind sector, enabling the clean energy revolution.
Dextra have been working with PD Ports for over 10 years, supplying LED lighting to a number of their buildings. As part of their continued effort to reduce energy and improve their operational efficiency we were asked to put forward proposals to refit some of their storage sheds in Hartlepool. Working closely with the client we conducted a detailed survey of the buildings in question and created a lighting design for each to ensure that all areas were compliant with the required specification.
Our Forteco and Verteco highbay products were installed through the main storage areas and these were supplied with on-board occupancy and daylight sensors to maximise the energy savings across each of the buildings. The external lighting was up-graded with our Opus floodlights to provide improved visibility to the loading docks and a new self-test emergency system was installed to help reduce on-going maintenance costs. The new LED lighting system delivered a substantial energy saving and we continue to work with PD Ports on projects across their estate.
