Dover Discovery Centre
Located on the South Kent coast, The Dover Discovery Centre is a bustling, multi-use community hub. Home to a range of essential services and spaces, including a nursery, library, offices and wider community facilities, the Centre plays a vital role in serving residents of all ages.
As part of an ambitious refurbishment project aimed at modernising the building and improving its overall efficiency, an upgraded lighting system was a key component. Dextra Group was appointed to deliver the new lighting solution, working in close partnership with JAGER Electrical Contractors Ltd, Walker Construction (UK) Ltd and the consultants, Ingleton Wood.
The ongoing success of the lighting refit will be measured by improved energy efficiency and reduced costs through streamlined maintenance. Given the complexity of the site and the need for intelligent control and emergency monitoring, Dextra’s Reacta Link wireless control system was specified.
This system allows for full lighting control across all areas of the building, enabling tailored light settings for different zones such as the theatre, nursery and office spaces.
By opting for a wireless control solution, the installation was carried out with minimal disruption to the existing structure—a key benefit in a building with multiple uses and a need to remain operational during parts of the refurbishment.
