Vale Of Glamorgan Decarbonisation Upgrades
As part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s ongoing commitment to reducing energy consumption and meeting ambitious decarbonisation targets, Dextra Lighting was appointed to deliver a series of lighting upgrades across key council-owned buildings. This project focused on two schools within the authority, as well as a community facility, all of which required modern, efficient lighting solutions to replace outdated systems.
The Council’s Energy and Decarbonisation team identified lighting as a significant opportunity to reduce both energy usage and long-term maintenance costs. By upgrading to LED technology, the buildings not only benefit from reduced carbon emissions but also from improved light quality, creating safer, more comfortable environments for students, staff, and community users.
Dextra worked closely with the Council to ensure the specification of products met both performance and sustainability requirements. Our team supplied a tailored package of LED luminaires designed to maximise energy savings, provide excellent reliability, and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance. Each installation was completed with minimal disruption, ensuring that the facilities could continue to operate smoothly throughout the upgrade process.
The results of these projects have already delivered measurable benefits. The Council has achieved a significant reduction in energy consumption across the upgraded sites, directly supporting its strategic decarbonisation goals. The modernised lighting has enhanced the overall usability of the spaces, while also delivering cost savings that can be reinvested into further sustainability initiatives.
This partnership between the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Dextra Lighting highlights the positive impact of energy-efficient lighting in public sector environments and demonstrates how practical, sustainable solutions can help organisations achieve their net zero ambitions.
